Fragment #98B

#98B
I have always had headgear but for you Kleis I have none
The ones I prefer—spangledwhere would I get them
Essential is a proper headbinder, yet the Mytilinean rulers

Won’t send any to Sicily, they punish me in this way,
If I only had something to hold your long locks, to hide
Them away with spangled linens, crown your head with flowers

These things of the Kleanaktidai who rule so painfully
Have sent me into exile as I flaunted their edicts, their decrees
Memories of my former self are pitifully, terribly leaked away
